What Makes Our Firm Unique

Our Experience

What sets us apart from other criminal defense attorneys is our experience and in court, there’s no substitute for experience.

Should you testify or remain silent? Should you ask for a jury trial? Should you plea bargain?  These are all good questions that have to be answered in every criminal case and you can’t find the answer in any books. When you’re defending someone in court experience really is the best teacher

When you’re charged with a crime you don’t need a lawyer who works “part time” doing defense work or who is guessing about what to do next. You need someone with experience standing beside you; someone who knows what to do and how to do it, and who does criminal defense work for a living

Before setting up my criminal defense practice and accepting my first client I worked as a full time prosecutor for several years and I handled criminal cases every day. I learned through experience what to do and what not to do. I got to know how prosecutors think, how they plea bargain, and how they put their cases together. I also learned the problems prosecutor’s face in trying to prove their cases in court. This experience was essential because, in my view, a person’s freedom is not something to experiment with. Before I defended even one person in court I wanted to be sure I knew exactly what to do and how to do it.

Over the last 30 years I’ve defended more that 3000 people in criminal cases. Good people just like you, who are afraid of going to jail, afraid of losing their jobs, and who just want to find a way to get their lives back to normal.

My unique experience and background as a prosecutor give me a distinct advantage over other attorneys. I know the judges and prosecutors, I understand how the system works, and I am familiar with the procedural and evidentiary rules used in the courtroom. When I do go to court on a criminal case, I’m not guessing about what to do next. I know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. I also know when to plea bargain and when a case needs to be tried.

Our criminal defense experience makes us unique and is important because sometimes that experience is the only thing standing between you and disaster.
